Spectacular win now within the Pats following a disappointing loss towards the Ravens. I figured it quite interesting they carried out better defensively after Revis went. Here’s why I believe that happened. When Revis is within the overall game, Rex Ryan and company are extremely certain that Revis can control his “island” that they are prepared to take risks the Jets wouldn’t otherwise. Revis or otherwise, you cannot just dial-up blitzes against Tom Brady and expect results. He’s too good he’ll discover the open guy each time.
Then when Revis went, no more getting that security blanket, Ryan reverts to more conservative defense (zones, etc.) and affirmed Brady can no more discover the openings he was seeing before. Maybe this is actually the thought. One great player enables you to rely on the ball player. But an excellent team provides more consistently. Just something to consider moving forward whenever Revis returns towards the area.
Another interesting note. How a schedule works this season, all AFC East teams may have playedeach otherby Week 4. This is awesome because, immediately, everybody will have the ability to measure the direction from the division.
